Fodi Death Camp

Fodi Death Camp ended without significant mishap... 3 days of riding. The 11+ mile around trip of Kitsuma on the first day set the pace. Kitsuma is a 14 switchback climb followed by 5 miles of heniously steep ridgelines and countour runs. The final 5 miles is a climb up an old state road back to the start... a few spills, I think Patrick was injured before we left the parking lot... but no serious damage... and as the motto goes... what happens on the trail stays on the trail (unless it can be used to harass the offending party, then all bets are off ;-).

The following day was off to Bent Creek... a wet, late morning ride left its share of debacles... a trashed rear derailuer, more than a few spills on the Pine Tree back to pick up the fallen comrade. A bike rental later, and the rest of the day was finished out on the north side of Bent creek... total ride on the order of 23 miles.

The final day started off as a fisasco with many repairs being required and a desparate search for a 6mm through bolt for the Switchblade's suspension (the previous one had been stripped). Just over 13 miles at Bent Creek. Unfortuantely, the adventure was cut short, since the rental had to be back at 5... and the morning was spent looking for the mythical suspension bolt (thanks to Ace Hardware for finally coming through)!

Meigs Creek Trail (post wedding hike)

We did an out and back hike in the smokies, on the Meigs Creek Trail. We hiked about 1.5 hours out and then turned around. The return trip took us less than an hour. We probably went close to 6 miles (or just over).
