Aeden and August go to Legoland
Aeden and August go to Legoland
We started out in the van at 8:15AM. Mommy, Daddy, Nana, August and Aeden were all assembled. We drove approximately 35 minutes to get park gates. We unloaded, locked the van, forgot and re-got the tickets, and headed toward the entrance.
The park entrance was a collection of LEGO blocks – dinosaurs; big bold park name; rainbows, LEGO figurines, water sprayers (via a hose on top of the biggest dinosaur).
We headed directly toward the Imagination Station to sign Aeden and August up for the Robotics training. We passed R2-D2, LEGO Mini-land, LEGO ducks, LEGO Otters, LEGO Foxes, and the Pirate Pavilion. When we finally arrived at Robotics Training - there was a spot!!! 2PM for the robot with the hat.
From there we went to the boat school. Aeden, August, and Daddy drove the boats around the course. There was more water works. Aeden and August ended up INSIDE a jaws of a great white shark.
We headed from there to the driving school, but decided the 3 minute line was too long. Out in front there was a LEGO rendered version of the 2012 Ford Explorer. We got some pictures.
We headed up to the Flight School. It was a special type of roller coaster. It was call a “suspended” roller coaster. Aeden said “It was terrible.” It was pretty jerky and banged you about. Aeden complained about his back after getting off the ride.
From there, we went over to see August getting this drivers license at the driving school. He was quite the Mario Andretti, zooming around the race course.
Aeden and Daddy participated in the Rescue Vehicles course while August did laps. Great progress was made and Aeden and Daddy made it to the fire the first. Daddy was on the pumper and Aeden was directing the water stream; unfortunately, the water stream never seemed to hit the mark and despite massive amount of water pumping action and the Daddy/Aeden team went from first last as Aeden went from directing the stream, back to the truck, and back to directing the steam. The team was finally called off – fire overtaking the building – and forced back to the truck, just barely saving any semblance of respect by coming in ahead of the fourth challenger…
Aeden and August branched out on their own – taking to the air in on the Pedal flyers. No Mommy or Daddy required. Look at them fly!
From there it was off to the Aqua Racers, where even Nana got into the action. The water craft zoomed around the course dodging water cannons and getting things wet.
A quick hieght check and August was good to go for the Technic Roller Coaster. It was great that he could ride and despite a somewhat queasy, “do I really want to be doing this?” look on his face after the first big, steep drop – it quickly changed to a smile. Aeden didn’t mind the big drop, but wasn’t enamored with the twisty turny route back to the drop off.
A brief respite at the Hero Action Figures station produced some model creations. August’s is on the left and Aeden’s is on the right.
Next came the Tower Pull – a great interactive ride that required some real muscle action and an admirable view of the park.
A air conditioned break with Wii, X Box and I Pad games was appreciated and allowed us to recharge prior to lunch and the Pirate Cove Action. With live action LEGO skiers, pirates, a real fighting princess AND a pirate eating (VERY HUNGRY) shark – it was quite the action thriller. Just look at those jumps!
Mommy and Nana got some great shots of LEGO Miniland while Aeden, Daddy and August participated in the Robot Programming School.
A short (and no wait) ride on the Merry Go Round with real LEGO horses was a hit.
A brief stop to fight Darth Vader. No fear by these two intrepid Jedi (as opposed to the non-LEGO version at Hollywood Studios)…
A trip through the Castle, a ride on the dragon roller coaster, visits to two play grounds and a shoot em’ up ride (August really enjoyed this one) – was enough to wear the entire bunch out.
We determined to take a break and headed to LEGO Studios – where August really enjoyed the 4D Movies (with 3D glasses and alternating bouts of water and snow). The movies were followed by ice cream and a trip to the LEGO store (Aeden selected Pirate action figures and August choose the Maldorian battle force).
The day was capped off by a chance TLC encounter…
