First Day at Fripp

First day at the beach was a blast...

The kids were anxious to hit the beach... We had scoped out a couple of paths down to the shore the night before... one only accessible at low tide and the other requiring us to sneak along the edge of one of the fairways. We had to choose the fairway path since the tide was up - luckily no errant golf balls or irate golfers. We explored the local section beach as the tide ebbed. Sand castle and water fortified sand constructed cannon balls... followed by lots of little critters - fish, Whelks, crabs - as the tide continued to retreat and tidal pools were exposed. Oh, and a few flying children on their way to crashing into the surf.

After getting back to the condo - a quick splash in the pool was followed by lunch, which was followed by a bike ride down the beach to get the amenity cards... lots of beach at low tide and only a few wash outs in the deep sand (some lessons are best experienced)... The kids held up great in the hot weather (though the breeze helped considerably). The administrator at the business office offered lots of advice on paddling options - so, we have plenty of new water trails to checkout.

We also checked out the ice cream stand and decided to go home and get Mommy to participate in that festivity. That was a refreshing treat. We finished listening to the Grishim novel that engrossed everyone on the way down to the shore and headed back out to the beach after dinner for a walk and a mean game of tag. We also found an underused, overgrown beach access path that led through what felt like a tropical jungle, winding it's way through shrubby trees and marshy ground for about a quarter mile on weathered boardwalk.

Needless to say - they both slept well that night...
